"We stayed here for a quick weekend getaway - and the owners were amazingly accommodating, especially for a last minute booking. The house has everything you could need - soft towels, great linens, stocked kitchen, ample space. And having a meal or relaxing on the deck was so serene. You hear the water from the pond below, the beautifully landscaped property is surrounded by luscious trees and greenery and the neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful. The walk to the boathouse is easy, and its like a little adventure walking along the lovely pathway. There is fantastic hiking nearby, as well as an easy trip to either Highlands or Cashiers."

"We were thrilled to find such a beautiful home in the exclusive mountain community of Lake Osseroga. The kitchen was well-equipped for preparing the simplest or the most elaborate meals and the beds were comfy with luxurious linens. We spent many hours on rocking chairs on the expansive covered porch, that overlooks a pond and waterfall, from which the sounds of rushing water can be heard. A short walk away is Lake Osserroga where many days we peacefully communed with nature while paddling around the lake or in the evening enjoyed the warmth of a sunset with a glass of wine at the boathouse. Mountain trails, such as Whiteside Mountain (which is a mere 5 minutes away)were easily accessible as was a quick trip into the towns of Highlands or Cashiers for shopping or an ice cream treat. This home, which is tastefully decorated with antiques and other fine furnishings, was a warm, comfortable and welcoming place to return home to at the end of our day."

"We have travelled frequently to Highlands for more than 30 years and have often stayed for several weeks at a time as we did on this trip. Without a doubt, this is the most outstanding home we have visited. It is beautifully and lovingly maintained, professionally designed and decorated, and has an intelligent floorplan offering an upstairs master and two downstairs bedroomns and a separate sitting room. The many personal touches make you feel special and more like welcomed family than rental guests. The kitchen has every imaginable tool you could ever need. The cookbooks are a dream for any home cook, and we used them several times. The decks are in the tree tops with magnificent specimen trees including hemlocks and large leaf magnolias. We were greeted in early July with rhododendron blooming over the entrance which was a magical experience. The canoes were so much fun, and we enjoyed many evenings watching the water at the boathouse.
The location is perfect and about half way between Highlands and Cashiers so we could easily get to Canyon Kitchen at Lonesome Valley for dinner with one of the best views in the world or hike to the newly opened state park at The Gorges with a wonderful visitors center with a picnic on a rock perched above Horsepasture River for another grand view. We also visited Southern Highlands Plateau which is a private garden on top of Toxaway that propogates and displays native plants in a glorious setting. Reservations can be obtained on the internet, but we went with a group of enthusiastic gardeners from a Zahner Lecture at the Highlands Nature Center that was accompanied by a botanist from UNC Charlotte. There are many lectures thoroughout the season, and they are highly recommended. The Performing Art's Center has plays all summer and we attended two during our three weeks at this wonderful Highlands home. The Highlands Chamber Music Festival is truly outstanding with many, many performances during the summer and we enjoyed several. We hiked at the Nature Center, Whiteside Mountain, Cliffside Lake, Chinquopin and Panthertown which was our favorite. We will always stay in this home when we visit Highlands. There is no reason to look anyplace else. It is perfect in every way. If I could rate it more than a FIVE I would!"
"Perfect for the discerning traveler. It said "high class" from the minute you arrived. New, clean, upscale, charming and just what you want in a mountain vacation home. The furnishings are impeccable and there are tv's and dvd's in virtually every room which comes in handy if you have children. Although the home it self is on a steep hill the design is such that my elderly Mother had no issue getting from the car to front door and back. In a secure gated community, it offered a lot of privacy but with VERY kind neighbors not too far away. Perfectly located between Cashiers and Highlands, ideal for those of us who love to dine, shop & play in both!"
"We spent a few incredible weeks here in this gorgeous, upscale neighborhood. Lake Osseroga is the perfect neighborhood in North Carolina for those who love to fish, paddle on the lake with the canoes, or sit back and enjoy the peace in quiet in the mountain scenery. It is the ideal location being half-way between Highlands and Cashiers, so we could enjoy the best of both towns. There is a lot of hiking, hundreds of waterfalls, chamber music concerts, great library, barn dancing at the Bascom, great shopping, golfing, and incredible restaurants. Lake Osseroga is the best neighborhood in Highlands or the Cashiers area by far! "

"Once again wanted you to know what an amazing week we had. When going through hundreds of houses on the internet one never knows what you'll actually find once you arrive, your house was everything I had on my check list, truly paradise in the mountains... We all did white water and biking and hiked down into many falls, truly a treat from the Florida flat lands and heat. Take care."
